FROM BRAZIL TO OUR BRAVE NEW WORLD





Returning to the Island, the day after was made by watching a movie set in a forgotten Country. A Country smashed by History, particularly by events which happened last century.

It would be unimaginable to detect survivals on that land after the genocide practiced by neighbors; decades under soviet occupation and, finally, the tough earthquake of 1988.

Le Voyage en Armenie, filmed in 2006 by the moviemaker Robert Guediguian, tells a personal
story of a grandfather who returns to Armenia, from France, after years of exile. His return occurs as he learns that he has a physical condition which is about to shorten his life considerably. Such story gives us the opportunity to discover his homeland peoples’ soul: just like the Ararat Mont, they will never die. Just like in a puzzle, they complete and match one another.

Rediscovering the movies in it original concept – the art to put pictures in motion to tell something – Guediguian’s staff made
a great movie without much resources, but talent and truth.
